Baby’s Got It Covered

Author: Safety_Baby

Buggy-Bagg-shopping-cart-coverSupermarkets are havens for germs and disease. That’s not to say that the foods we purchase there are unsafe – to the contrary, most packaged foods are sealed to ensure freshness. And produce should always undergo a thorough rinse at home before you eat it. No, it’s not the food in the supermarket that’s unsanitary; it’s the surfaces. Thousands of people file in and out of the same grocery store each day, leaving their unique germs behind on everything they touch.

Shopping cart covers help to protect young children from the effects of these filthy common items. It’s unpleasant to contemplate, but the previous user of your shopping cart may not have washed his or her hands all day. Babies are particularly susceptible to germs, especially considering their propensity for putting things in their mouths. Cart covers keep baby clean and provide parents with pleasant peace of mind.

Keeping Your Baby Healthy and Happy

Keeping Your Baby Healthy and Happy

Many people feel a great sense of trepidation when they first learn that they are pregnant, and that is entirely normal. After all, it’s almost every new parent’s fear that they will somehow prove bad parents. It’s an especially common fear that your baby will somehow inflict physical harm while you’re watching them. While this is a common and natural fear, new parents should realize that the best they can do is be prepared and watchful.

Beyond that, accidents may or may not occur. With preparation in mind, though, parents should always use a variety of baby health products. When you take your baby into the sun, for example, make sure they are lathered with a high SPF sunscreen and make sure they’re sporting baby safe sunglasses. There are also various products to ensure that even normal, everyday activities are done safely. This can include something as mundane as cutting your child’s nails. Cut too far to the quick, you can actually cause your child to bleed a bit, so make sure you’re using the proper equipment.

Mucus-Filled Noses Are The Pits

Mucus-Filled Noses Are The Pits

Kids get sick way too often. This is because they are always surrounded by other kids with drippy noses and runny eyes at school. There aren’t many things a parent can do for their sick child other than comfort them with hugs and warm their little bodies with blankets. But sometimes kids’ noses can get so stuffy they struggle to breathe.

In these cases parents need to take quick action to unclog their nostrils. They can do this by using a nasal aspirator. These aspirators are just barely inserted into a child’s nose to suck out clogged mucus. If your child is sick and can’t breathe you may need to think about getting a nasal aspirator.

Shopping cart cover

Recent findings show that a shopping cart can actually be a source of dangerous microorganisms that may be harmful to humans. These germs are particularly harmful to toddlers who are usually placed by their parents in shopping carts. The shopping cart handles are even said to be filthier than toilet seats!

One tip is to always wipe the handles before letting your toddler ride the cart. Another way is by using a shopping cart cover. Cart covers assure parents that their kids won’t touch the shopping cart. A cover also provides padding so your child will stay comfortable and safe.

Why You Should Swaddle

Author: Safety_Baby

swaddle blanket

Swaddling your baby is important to keeping him warm during the cold winter months. But warmth isn’t the only good reason to swaddle your bundle of joy. A Washington University study found that infants sleep better when swaddled, wake fewer time and get twice as much REM sleep.Swaddling is also believed to reduce the incidence of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. Swaddled babies sleep on their backs and are less likely to get into the unsafe tummy-sleeping position. Evidence shows that infants who sleep on their backs are less likely to succumb to SIDS.

Babies wrapped in swaddle blankets are less likely to become over-stimulated and are able to self-soothe when the hands are swaddled near the face.

Baby Got Bath

Keeping your little one clean is important. A dirty face, nose or ears can cause the build up of bacteria, causing infections and illness. A few simple steps can be followed to wash your baby’s eyes, ears and nose.

  1. baby bathDip a clean, soft baby washcloth or cotton ball into warm water and squeeze it to remove any excess water. Avoid using soap because a baby’s skin is sensitive and can be easily damaged by harsh chemicals.
  2. Distract the baby with soft singing or humming while you are cleaning them.
  3. Use the cloth or a cotton ball to clean the corners of your baby’s eyes, wiping gently from the inside corner to the outside edge of each eye.
  4. Use a soft, damp washcloth or nose cleaner to remove the mucus from around your baby’s nose, wiping each nostril gently.
  5. Use a washcloth to wipe the outer parts of your baby’s ears, but not inside. Wipe away dirt and debris from behind each ear.
